What is CTV Perth?
CTV Perth Inc. is a not for profit member based television production
service actively providing an open access for local dialogue. The
service reflects a diverse range of expressions and views; cultivates
a sense of community; encourages participation, learning, innovation
and promotes competence in audio-visual skills. As a result, CTV Perth
produces television programmes with the community and for the
community which reflect Australia’s rich multicultural diversity
and heritage.
Community Television Perth Inc. is the window for the Perth community
to embrace television airtime in Australia and abroad via this unique
service. It also provides numerous opportunities for its producer
and community members to use the production equipment and facilities
in order to present the many distinctive programmes offered.
Utilising its grass roots democratic structure, CTV Perth Inc. develops
and represents the common voice of the community programme producers
through a united front in matters of funding, contracts, airtime allocation,
right of appeal and other concerns in relation to the ongoing program,
production and operations.
Our History
Between 1994 and 1999, CTV Perth built the foundation for a metropolitan-wide
community television service through constant submissions of applications,
lobbying and the conducting of experimental trial programming.
In June, 1999 Access 31 began broadcasting as a mainstream community
station with local community programmes at that time provided through
the diverse talents prevalent at CTV Perth Inc.
In March, 2004 Access 31 received a permanent analogue community
television licence for a period of 5 years to cover the Perth metro
area. CTV Perth remains a key local, community programme provider
(CPP).
CTV Perth Inc. is Western Australia’s most prominent non-profit organization
dedicated to the advancement of community television broadcasting.
As a community programme provider (CPP), CTV Perth has a unique twelve
year track record of multi-award winning quality television productions
which have been broadcast for community TV stations throughout Australia
in both digital and analogue. We are also proud that our productions
can now be viewed by a wide audience of Community Television in the
USA.
